I just reinstalled Windows on an older laptop. It has an external Wireless
card I purchased last fall. This problem only happened since I reinstalled
    Windows.

When I boot the computer, the wireless card connects to my wireless network,
but says I have Limited or No Connectivity. I tried Repairing the
connection, but it says it fails to acquire an IP address.

However, if I plug in my wired connection, and then try repairing the
connection, then my wireless connection starts working. I can unplug my
wired connection and continue using wireless.

This does not happen with another laptop I have, and it did not happen with
this laptop before I reinstalled Windows. Any help you can give is
    appreciated. Thanks!

Here is the output of ipconfig /all (after the connection is established):

I have had the some problem. The computer sees the wireless network with
good signal strength but cannot connect. Until, that is, I plug in the wired
connection. Is use of static addresses the only solution? This seems to be a
    Windows bug

This sounds exactly like the problem I am having. My PC logs the error as
event ID 1001 "your computer will try and obtain an address on its own from
    the dhcp server"

How do I come up with a static IP address? I'm a neophyte obviously
