Windows changes DNS IP after DHCP provided one

Discussion in 'Windows Networking' started by Sebastia RodaMon, Feb 24, 2014.

  1. Hi. I am using Windows 2008 server but windows 7 does the same.

    My PC gets a dynamic IP, and the DHCP server also provides a DNS server IP.

    But in 3 seconds, windows gets another DNS IP and changes my IP configuration.

    How can I prevent this from happening ?

    My sequence is :

    $ ipconfig /all -> display previous IP configuration
    $ ipconfig /release -> throw away IP config
    $ ipconfig /dnsflush -> clean DNS cache
    $ ipconfig /renew -> here I get DNS IP from DHCP server
    $ ipconfig /all -> display DNS IP is OK (provided by DHCP server)
    $ ipconfig /all -> display DNS IP is WRONG !!! (there's another DNS server)

    Sebastian.

    PD.- I would say this does not happen if client is Windows XP ...
