Vigor 2860n-Plus problem with VDSL

Found this wth a new 2860n-Plus, firmware 3.7.8.3 (also present on the
version 3.7.8.1 that it arrived with).

Configure WAN1 for VDSL per instructions at:

    http://www.draytek.co.uk/support/guides/vigor-2860-vdsl-setup

Specifically this means setting the VDSL2 VLAN tag value to 101.

The router online status - physical connection page shows good VDSL
information and the WAN1 details confirm a good PPPoE connection to the
    ISP (in this case Zen).

The connected computer can ping websites by URL so DNS is working OK.

However, the browser generally displays nothing, indicating "connecting
...." with sometimes the redirect URL visible. After many seconds - even
minutes - the chosen web page appears; rendering virtually instantly at
the speed one would expect for the 80Mbits/sec download.

Navigation via a link on that page or whatever is similarly delayed.

So I asked SEG - the UK suppliers.

After several irrelevant ideas they suggest configuring the Hardware
Acceleration setup away from "Auto" to "Disabled".

    This cures the problem!

Others may find this useful. I don't know whether it applies to other
    variants of the V2860.

It's not clear whether Draytek know of the problem, or have any plans to
    fix it.

Because I bought it from SEG, and if the issue were to have developed
into a warranty return that's where it would have gone back to.

SEG have been good in the past when the Draytek literature claimed that
the V2830-v2 would show the DSL status of a connected V130 - which is
does not. SEG took it back and refunded my money without question.

By contrast the V2860n does show the DSL status of a connected V130 -
provided that if the Firewall DoS Defence is enabled the "Block Fraggle
Attack" option is unchecked. Beats me - clearly a design mistake ...!

  3. Indeed, but if he hasn't got a back up then it is catch 22 trying to email them.
