Sub folder Permision

Discussion in 'Windows Networking' started by =?Utf-8?B?TWlrZSBEZW5lZW4=?=, Nov 23, 2004.

  1. When I create a share all of the rights from the share propagate down to all
of the sub-folders. I have looked up serveral thing on the 2003 server and
none of them work. I have put my settings in the security tab and set it for
this folder and files and it still pull the permission from my share. Is
there some way to give sub-folders different rights from the shared folder?

    Thanks

  2. When you create a share by sharing an existing folder, it doesn't do
anything to NTFS permissions on the folder or subfolders. If you're having
problems with permissions and want subfolders to have different permissions,
go to the properties of the subfolder, security tab, modify & uncheck
'automatically inherit' from parent - and then choose 'copy permissions'
    when prompted.
