i've tried googling this, but found no answers.
i've got a linux box, an OS X iMac, and a winXP box.
all this networked through an SMB router.

everything works great; filesharing all around.
only thing is - whenever i'm NOT online (router not connected to the
internet) - no computer can connect to the linux box. AND even if they
were connected before (ex. linux share mounted on the XP box or iMac)
    - once i disconnect from the internet - i can't see the files on the
linux box from the other 2 computers.

anyone have a clue why mounting (filesharing) with the linux box works
fine ONLY when i have an internet connection? even though all
computers can still ping one another and they ALL still maintain their
internal network IP addresses after disconnecting from the internet
(ex. 192.168.x.x). AND the XP box and the iMac still maintain
filesharing abilities even after disconnecting from the internet.

    any help, very much appreciated.

    cheers.
