RIS install for XP VL image from Server2003 : lost network driver

Discussion in 'Windows Networking' started by nick brandwood, Oct 18, 2005.

  1. hello,

    I am experiencing a problem that I can't understand:
I'm installing a IBM R40 laptop using RIS services,
within the image created using the wizard:risetup.exe
I have followed the http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=315279 that explains
how to include the oem driver E100B325.INF + E100B325.SYS to allow the SMB to
    use the network interface.

This works fine and XP installs, however:

during installation an error appears saying that the domain provided is not
valid, and at the end of the install the computer is left without any driver
E100B325.INF (searched for on the C drive)

I can't quite understand if this is normal behaviour. MS then goes on to
say that to install other programs and drivers I should use SMS or various
other techniques that would require the network card to function.

My XP source is the MSDN XP SP2 Volume Licensing .iso that comes on MSDN
    disk 2430.1 (june 05)

    E100B325.BIN
    E100BMSG.DLL

    would appreciate any help!

    thanks,
