Re: Peterson's Death Sentence

  1. There isn't, its just a grammar thing. "Someone has consciousness".
    "Someone is conscious"

"Someone has conscious", don't sound right.

  2. What specific contradiction that the site claimed was a contradiction do
    you disagree with?

What specific atrocity that was claimed on the site, do you claim was
    not an atrocity?

It isn't so much that they are wrong, though in places they could be,
but that much of what they are citing as contradiction is a
misinterpretation. I'll be the first to admit that there is much
contradiction and attrocity in many places of the bible, but that is
the fault of man, not God.

An instance of misinterpretation by that site is when they say Jesus
neither had a kingdom nor an army. This is somewhat true in a very
literal, worldly sense. But that falls into the same trap as the
pharasees who behaved in a similar manner and challenged Jesus over
these exact things and completely ignores what Jesus himself said. "My
kindom is the kingdom of heaven," is what he consistently said (mostly
when they were trying to trap him into speaking treason). This is why
the Romans did not find him challenging at the time, because he was
talking about a completely different type of kingdom and they didn't
see it as a contradiction or a challenge to their authority on earth
(something that is also spoken of in the bible).

Another trap that site attempts is to say that Jesus contradicted
himself based on the accounts of what he said. They take diffent
accounts, by diffent people, to claim contradictions. Anyone that
knows anything knows that when two people view the same event their
accounts will be different and often contradictory. I don't think this
invalidates the account or the event.

About the atrocities in the old testiment, which are numerous: It is
hard to believe that God actually had any part of them. These are
written histories of a rather supersticious group of people who were at
times led by some rather tyranical kings and priests. The whole
race/tribe seems to have been rather warlike and brutile during many
    periods of its history.

Ok, then you define your own QM world, and be happy! ;-)

  5. Ok, this is at a much more deeper level in an *extended* quantum gravity
theory that isnt complete. Its not really standard QM.

Standard quantum mechanics, for example, deals with the shrodinger
    equation:

    H|psy> = En|psi>

H is a function of x and t. For certain condition it is true that En,
energy, takes on quantised values however, for some boundary values the
eigen values of the equation are continuous, that is any energy might be
allowed. In standard QM, both x and t are continuous variables, and it
was this to which I was referring to. Sure, deeper understanding appears
to show that space *may* be quantised at something like 10^-32M, but
this not really relevant to the level of this discussion. It a
quantisation that cant be detected. Its to fine.

I don't know why you insist on using derogatory terms.

Yes, I gleam from the *Bible* what rings true for me. For instance, one
thing that does ring true for me is, "Love thy neighbor." One thing
that doesn't ring true for me would be, "Thou shall not suffer a witch
to live." And all that bullshit about hair length is just silly...Paul
can kiss my dirty, hairy ass if he doesn't like my hair.

I also study Budhism, Taoism, and have studied Mormon, Muslim, Judaism
(actually put that in the current list), Wicca, Tarot (actually
discovered a few things there that I don't know are known by anyone
else), Satanism, etc, etc...some more than others.

Of course not all of what those systems believe rings true for me; some
less than others. Not all of it makes sense. For instance, I read the
Bible Code once...if there is a greater waste of tree I have never read
it. Some of it is frankly completely off the wall. Some, like most of
satanism, provide no useful insight at all (unless you want to learn how
to be selfish). Others, like Budhism and the teachings of Jesus, many
psalms, etc.., offer much insight. But everyone finds insight in
    different places.

If you find hope and help in passages about bashing babies heads into
rocks (or whatever other viscious and murderous passage you come up
with) I think that says something about your stability and suitablity in
society. I'm not letting you anywhere near MY kids...

But I suppose you believe every damn thing you have ever read; what a
pitty. I believe you should allow for fault even in the most
authoritative of sources. In fact, I can't think of a single thing I
have ever read that I 100% agreed with (except maybe The Forge of God by
    Greg Bear). YMMV obviously.

I should tell you now, I am nothing like you have assumed I am. Of
course, I already said that didn't I...you just never listened.

    I hope this posts provides you with as much pleasure as the last one ;}

  9. Who says they are? Maybe trying to cut an inherently continuous phenomenon
into tinier and tinier pieces is a red herring?

What if the fundamental nature of reality is magnetic, and can only exist
    in complete circles?

    Good Luck!

  10. That's pretty simple. When one person, a pregnant woman, becomes two - a
    woman and an infant.

It's as simple as the difference between one and two. One moment, there's
one person, then she poops out the little screaming thing, and if it
    survives, there are two people.

Especially the religious fanatics should appreciate that - why do you
think it's called the "miracle" of childbirth?

    Cheers!
