    In my Linux system, I had configured pppoe client connection. My interface configuration file /etc/sysconfig/nework-scripts/ifcfg-eth1 is

    TYPE=xDSL
    DEVICE=ppp0
    BOOTPROTO=dialup
    USERCTL=yes
    IPV6INIT=no
    PEERDNS=no
    PIDFILE=/var/run/pppoe-adsl-eth1.pid
    FIREWALL=NONE
    PING=.
    PPPOE_TIMEOUT=80
    LCP_FAILURE=3
    LCP_INTERVAL=20
    CLAMPMSS=1412
    CONNECT_POLL=6
    CONNECT_TIMEOUT=60
    PERSIST=yes
    SYNCHRONOUS=no
    DEFROUTE=no
    USER=pravin
    ETH=eth1
    PROVIDER=eth1
    DEMAND=no
    ONBOOT=yes
    LIVE_IP=Yes
    PPP_PASSWORD=pravin
    SERVICENAME=
    ISP_Name=EXT-1

    But after sometime(4-5 days or twice in a day) pppoe loose the connection and ppp0 interface goes down, i.e. through eth1 I am not able to access internet. Following are /var/log/message when interface goes down.

    After this pppd daemon try to connect to PPPoE server after every 5 seconds. But interface does not up automatically.

    How I can configure interface such that it comes up automatically? and Why interface goes down after 3 echo request failed error message?
