Customer has "PlusNet Small Business Premier up to 8Mb" with a static IP
    address.

If they upgrade to "Unlimited Business Fibre Broadband" will they retain
the same IP address? If not, can they find out ahead of time what IP
address they would be issued with on the conversion date?

    TIA

I'd be very surprised if it changed. The IP address will be associated
with the account not with the connection method.

My (legacy) IP address certainly stayed the same when I changed from
copper to fibre on my domestic account.

Understood. but I can't find it specified anywhere on their website.

There's a SMTP server receiving email, so if the IP address does change
I would rather plan the upgrade for a Friday afternoon to give time for
the new value to propagate through the DNS system.

Why not ask plusnet directly? Their support is good.

Are you sure, their User forum indicates different to the Plusnet Adverts.

Yes, in my experience, I'm sure.

Don't forget people are more likely to be vocal about negatives than
    positives.

If you want positive confirmation, I suggest that you ask PN via their
"Live Chat" mechanism. It's a lot quicker than raising a ticket (if you
can still find out how to do that!) or phoning - and you can tick a box
to have a transcript of the chat sent to you by email, so you'll have a
    record of what they said.

Roger Mills does not appear to agree he advises against Tickets and Phone to
their CS in his response below.

Back to the User Forum points seems an awful lot of dissatisfaction even
though I do in general agree with your point.

I didn't specify how to contact PN, so Roger and I are in complete
agreement: that the OP should contact PN to get a definitive answer ;)
btw you need to work on your quoting style: mixture of top and bottom
posting with improper quoting of previous messages. Makes it very hard
to follow the thread. The norm is for bottom posting and '>' quoting of
    previous messages.

But my IP address changed when I was upgraded from dial-up to broadband
    (both static addresses).

I didn't know that you could have a static address with dial-up.

At one time (not with plusnet) I used to have an entire class C subnet
on 24x7 dial-up ... I doubt 56kbps bandwidth would even cope with the
    script kiddie probes these days.

Demon used to do that for all customers even before broadband came in.
But then, they were the pioneers of domestic Internet connections and IP
addresses weren't so much at a premium in those days (early '90s).

I can still remember mine, on Demon's original address allocation
    (starting 158.152).
Of course, I lost it when I moved elsewhere, but I've never had an
internet connection that didn't have a fixed IP.
