Just opened my new Microsoft MN-500 Wireless-B Basestation
router...and am trying to set it up. I get as fast as it
saying it's going to program the basestation...which I'm
guessing means I'm almost done...well keeps
popping up with an error message saying it can't configure
the base. It says I should disable any firewalls, and
security software, etc to resolve the issue...and also
gives the option of pressing reset to factory defaults.
Well I've done each thing several times now. I'm not new to
the world of networking, and this seemed pretty much plug
and play. I've now been trying to install the base station
for over 1 hour and it won't let me finish step 4 in the
quick start guide. Does anyone else get this problem?
I'm using Windows XP Home Edition, have a broadband
connection that is working, P4 1.7ghz, 512ram, etc. All of
the appropriate green lights are lit up on the base
station, as well as my cable modem. Any help would be
appreciated, because when I'm finished with the main
computer, I still need to go setup my laptop with an
    adaptor and such as well.
    Thanks in advance,

You may have Zone Alarm or Norton installed. You need to
uninstall them during the setup (not just close or
disable them since that doesn't actually stops them).

You may also want to check the built-in Windows Firewall
