Network claims to be connected, but is not

    Hi,

My boyfriend has recently got a new Dell desktop, and has set it up for
wireless networking. It has Windows XP Media Centre edition, and I think it
uses a Dell Wireless 1450 Dual-band USB 2.0 Adapter. After a bit of trouble
we got it working, and it worked fine. He moved the computer into another
room for some reason, and after that the internet would not work (he says
he's checked all the physical connections). It claims to have good signal,
and to be connected to the network, but cannot communicate or receive
anything. I think he's using the Windows tool to manage the networking, and
it is set to 'obtain IP address automatically'.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I have looked at several networking
webpages (though feel free to point me to some more!).

Please help - we're unable to Skype each other without internet!

    Thanks

    Rachel

Would you believe it? Literally 30 seconds after I posted this he signs into
Skype, after his friend fixed it for him! Sorry to bother you all,

Well I am glad he got it working. Do you know what the solution was? Thanks
