    Hi All,

First off, has anyone had problems yesterday with posting to this newsgroup?
on my news reader it appeared to get into a state where the posting titles
and content were out of sync.

Anyway, happy New Year to you all and down to the question:

I am looking to implement some form of quality of service for our Internet
connection and have found a router that appears to be just the job (Linksys
BEFSR81). The idea is to electronically limit my sons' hogging of the link
while they downloads 'knitting patterns'. I don't want to put a Linux box
in series with the network and do it that way - too much hassle. However,
this is just a router and obviously needs an ADSL modem.

Is anyone using a stand-alone modem with a separate router that they would
recommend and is easy to set up? Note that I want a simple straight though
modem with no built-in router or NAT services etc.and it has to work at full
G.DMT speed as we have a 2M pipe and is an Ethernet output, not USB

    Thanks for any help, Mike

  3. I think the general consensus is to get a simple router which incorporates a
modem. I bought that and took it back to PissyWorld - explained to the
manager that it was an incomplete product as they do not have a modem to
work with it. He gave me my money back!
