  3. Just ask - I think they've got to give it to you. Mention my username
'imshepherd' if signing onto Plusnet. I migrated from OneTel to Plusnet
with only 10 minutes downtime. I just asked Onetel for the CBUK and they
    provided it no question.

  4. Hi Jason,

Provided you are on a Tiscali IPStream product, as supposed to a
Datastream one, this should go without a problem and they will give
you your CBUK. Remember though that the CBUK number on it's own is
only one requirement for a migration. The 'losing' ISP must authorise
the migration request once it has been made via the new ISP. That can
    be the troublesome part sometimes...

Lots more info about migrations here:

  5. And I haven't seen that very often - ISP tech support monitoring newsgroup.
I must say however that since I migrated, I have been very happy with their
service and support. Certainly their staff seem to know what they're
talking about far more than OneTel - and the other ISP I deal with BT - who
are hopeless !!! Good luck !

  7. Almost everything about PlusNet IMHO is a breath of fresh air, compared
the the old dinosaur ISP's, where it seems change, innovation and
flexabilty are frowned upon. They deserve to be very sucessul. I
really hope they keep these qualities as they continue to grow.

I thought it was "opposed to" although I must confess I am guilty of
writing "supposed to" more times than I should have in the past.

I wrote to Tiscali twice asking for ma CBUK number and was ignored. I
then wrote to say I wanted to close my ADSL account and could I have
    the CBUK number.
I heard nothing for 3 weeks and then one morning I found that the
account no longer worked. After many phone calls including some to
India they admitted that the account had been terminated and said if I
wanted it back I would have to sign up with them again and pay the
    connection fee.
It also took them 4 weeks to tell BT to remove the ADSL and because of
that it was 5 weeks before Zen could open my new account.
After a 14 months on Tiscali broadband I cannot once say that I was
ever impressed with the service (connection OK but service rubbish)

  10. I always welcome these posts - It won't change me, as I have a mental
block against using proper english sometimes. Must try harder!

  11. If the OP gets really stuck, drop me a mail with all your Tiscali
details and I will see if I can help. We do have some commercial
contacts over there, but I make no promises!

Sue them for what? They don't HAVE to supply you with a CBUK number. Alone
    it isn't enough anyway!

I have just got my CBUK no from ClaraNet and I want to go over to PlusNet
    too - I'm going to migrate at 512kbps with a view to a speed upgrade asap;
Just wanted to ask, tho', is their email reliable, as far as people know? By
and large, does it all come and go pretty immediately?

  16. The first thing you need to be sure of it that you are currently on a
Migratable service (Ie Tiscali have provisioned you on IPStream and
not Datastream). Tiscali definitely do perform migrations, although
having checked our records we have only processed 8 of their
migrations successfully in the last twelve months. As a point of
reference, we have done approaching 1000 from BT.... Either people
like Tiscali and don't want to move, or they do make this difficult!

Any from Freeserve? They definitely didn't do migrations until recently - now
it's confusing. adslguide and some people say "yes" - others still "no"

  18. It's been 100% reliable for me. Compared the the abortion of a service
I used to get from NTL, Plusnet is BLISS... They have modern servers
and equipment, and are not scared to invest in their infrastructure...

PS. If you are going ing sign up, you you use my referal code: mgillespie

    Cheers....
