Is there anyone who's not getting moved over to the pipe of doom?

  1. Well, firstly you need to read the rest of the thread, and secondly
his post /did/ contain a pretty childish idea.

  2. And that makes it ok to take your frustration out on them does it?

You try working on a customer service desk for a week ,and see how you
like it. Customers seem to think they can be as abusive as they like,
and get away with insults that would get them in hospital or jail if
they did it to your face.

Still, at least these days if someone is abusive you don't have to put
up with it. Calls are taped, emails kept, and abusive customers (or
    ex-customers) are proceeded against.

No but what is a customer to do? I have phoned the customer support line and
what happens, they simply refused to even answer my questions.
    Who said I was abusive?

I'd hate to work in customer service and I agree with your comments but all
of this doesnt change the fact that i'm getting treated terribly by Plusnet.
    Good for them.

I hope Plusnets customers also remember this when they are getting poor
performance and terrible support. Maybe some of them can take their
    complaints further.

    What childish idea was that?

If you mean the downloading 24/7 then I dont believe thats childish at all.
My connection is going to go to shit on Monday so I want to download what I
want now rather than drag it all along using my soon to be handicaped

For the last two weeks I have been limiting how much I have been downloading
each day, and spreading what I download over the course of a few days. That
seems to have been a waste of time.

Nice to see you defending the guy who called me a fuckwit. In your other
post you seemed to take great offence that I may have been abusive to
    Plusnets customer support (I wasnt).

  5. Hi Dave,

I actually told then I was moving to Tiscali 256 Broadband @ £17.99 per
month. I told them that £25 was a little too much for me as I didn't use the
net a lot and they offered me Unlimited 512k for £19.99 for 1 year. Only
problem now is they have introduced the 256 Silver service so I don't think
they would offer you the 512k.

Maybe you could tell them you have seen an Unlimited package @ for £9.99 per month and see if they reduce it
for you. You could even go for EFH but I don't know what personally what
    they are like.

  6. More than likely they didn't know the answers. A heck of a lot of the
time, CS get told very little and still get the sticky end of the
Your most recent post "and **** any plusnet person who reads this"
    sounds kinda abusive to me.

  7. Thats the one.
    mhm. Nuff said.
    Based on what evidence?
perhaps a case of too little too late.
I'm not defending anyone. When you behave like a fuckwit, you get
    called a fuckwit.
Really? Point out where I took great offense. As opposed to asking you
to remember that CS have a shitty job to do, and don't need to have
    anyone making it worse.
    Good to hear it.

I already do that, though not with zoneedit, I've even written my own
IP monitoring utility so as to only update if my IP has changed.

Heh - Now it's out of date of course, cos I just got myself a little
ppp friendly router with a serial modem port. I'd just added a
network/netmask filter to remove private IPs from the 'all ips' system
call I used. Ah well, nice little client anyhow..

The router already has facility to interface with and update either, or, though I don't yet know if they're
free. But I *liked* the one that I was using.

I'm considering writing a new toy that either deals with the dhcp
protocol (to spot the public IP) or that fetches the web page
interface from the router and pulls out the IP (ick).

I was after progressing to renting hostspace for a static DNS entry
and writing a util to update my own little subdomain.

A resounding *NO* is the result of the check..

Shame, they could have been useful for a little while.

Thanks for the reply but I think I've written them off as a
possibility. I might have given it a go if they didn't block ports :(

Keen to decide before Solstice time (aka xmas) as it's the ideal
destination for cash that would otherwise get spent on nullities.

I have read all your posts and could not agree more. I moved after a
year on 512k with PN to 2Meg a few months ago. I have an Up/Dw counter
and from this I can say they moved the goal posts.

Since I am now on a monthly contract please tell me which ISPs have you
checked out? Are you or have you gone back to Pipex? I think I have
spent the longest with PN and will likewise move.

What really is stressful I have been on broadband since 1998 starting
with the BT trials in North London. Those were the good old days. But it
never fails somehow in the UK they don't get it quite right. BT became
known as the railnetwork of the Information super highway and what ever
advantage in Digital TV was there is long gone. The same will happen
with the Internet access because people here take the crap dished out. A
few class action law suits would settle the matter. But who has time for
that when season 4 of Enterprise is running and Alias 4 will start
    09/01/05 and 24 season 4 03/01/05.

    See you
