With Win 9x OS's...in order to view files and folders and
such while in a network, make sure the following are
    selected on.

    1. File and Print Sharing
    2. NetBuei is active
    3. ICS--Internet Connection Sharing (if dial up)

Since this is a peer-to-peer network, to my knowledge,
this is what you will need to set up to get what you want
    to happen.

    thanks

  2. Those network components are OK, if you want to use them. However:

    1. Nothing in Windows networking requires NetBEUI.

    2. ICS has nothing to do with viewing files and folders on the
network. It shares an Internet connection.

The minimum requirements for sharing and viewing files and folders
    are:

    Client for Microsoft Networks
the same protocol on all computers (TCP/IP is the best choice)
File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks
