I have a new client with the following network configuration:
    100 XP Pro boxes
    2 IDF's with Ethernet switches
1 MDF termination closet with rack mounted parch panel.
    1 2003 server

My question is: Will I need to install additional switches at the closet end
in order to connect the server to the network and allow the XP Pro boxes to
access files and folders on the server?

  2. Yea. The other end of that patch cable has to go somewhere.

The server usually plugs into a wall jack like everything else,...then the
patch cable from the server's "line" goes into the switch right along with
    the rest.

If the Server is in the IDF or MDF then it could just plug into the switch
directly,...it depends on how "neat" you like to keep things or if you don't
mind cables that look like a pile of worms.
