Cannot upgrade router

Discussion in 'Network Routers' started by Brevoortia tyrannus, Jun 29, 2009.

  1. Using a Netgear WGR614 V7. When I run the router upgrade utility on the
router, I find that an upgrade is available. When I tell the router to
download and install the upgrade I get an error message "Not enough memory
    to download upgrade."

What's the problem? Router memory is not expandable.

What memory is not sufficient to upgrade the router?

    Thank you.

  2. It's possible that the file the router is trying to download is actually for
a different revision level motherboard. Not all revisions had the same
amount of memory installed in them. Possibly the URL embedded in your
existing software is now going to a location for a different revision
    router.

I have not looked lately, but there used to be a way of manually downloading
the upgrade file, then running a program from them that you also download
that actually installs the upgrade from your local computer. At least that
way you should be able to request the download be for the correct revision
level of the router you own and not rely on the old software trying to
download it from a possible bad URL.
