I can't see much coming out of it all.
With ADSL it depends on phone length and connection etc...
With cable like Virgin Media it shouldn't make any difference how far
you live from the 'exchange' you get the full speed advertised and sold.
Infact Virgin have actually stated words to the effect of that.
Something like... with ADSL you have to live quite near to the exchange
to get anything near the speed they advertise, but with us as we use
Fibre Optic, it doesn't matter... you'll get the full speed advertised.

Virgin can't supply the speed they advertise, whether it's Fibre Optic
    or not...
Not when they are over subscribed, and there's contention issues, and
not to mention the amount of cloned modems saturating the network )

"New cabling would make it easier to guarantee speeds by removing the
distance and poor quality wiring factors, but may not solve the
contention issue, as many Virgin Media customers can attest today"

Doubt it, I heard Colette Bowe on the radio the other day talking about
    this.
Perhaps if she learned the difference between a megabit and a megabyte
that would be a good start.

I was just thinking how wonderful life was, when Java Jive
You're not serious are you? Ofcom on our side? Those morons do not
understand the market or the technical issues in their area of
    'expertise'.

  7. You /do/ realise that the comment you quote above relates to replacing
the copper ADSL infrastructure and not cable, don't you?

  10. You may want to consider whether that sentence makes sense.
At least one of us is useful 99% of the time then.
