anyway to get UDP fail over to work on win98se

    I have setup two gateway on my win98se pc and i am having
    problem getting UDP to fail over to the second gateway.
    Anyone with a workable solution? Thanks.

  2. Hi Kim,

    No, you won't be able to get this to work with UDP. UDP by design is a
    connectionless protocol. Once the UDP packet is sent, the sender has no way
    to tell if it was received or not by the destination. If you want dead
    gateway detection to work you need to use TCP.

    thanks marc, for replying. is it correct to say that UDP
    will not fail over to the second gateway, even if i have
    first make a TCP connection (e.g browsing the internet)
    and then attempt to do a netlogon?

    if that is the case, is there another way which i can do
    netlogon to my nt domain? thanks.

  4. If TCP causes the gateway to fail over first then UDP will use the "new"
    gateway.
