As a newbie to Broadband and routing and networking I am finding it very
difficult to connect my WRT54G wireless router to the ZyXel modem supplied
by the ISP.
I think it has to do with both of them identified as 192.168.1.1 but which
do I change or does it matter?
Any suggestion at all welcome.
Thanks
Tony

It doesn't matter.
Ensure they are not on the same subnet, but use a different...
Meaning IP 192.168.<different>.x; Subnet 255.255.255.0
