Hi, this is something I posted elsewhere but got no response - not even
a flame.

Anyone here got any knowledge of registering ZA products purchased in
the UK? I got the paid for version because I am not the only person who
uses our equipment and I wanted something simple and integrated. Seems
to work very well. Previously I used Norton.

I bought ZA Security Suite 6 for 2 users competitive upgrade from Amazon
recently. There was a note inside to email (E-Mail Removed) quoting
a long code so that they could send me a valid serial key. Until then I
only got a 14 day licence.

6 days later after 3 emails and 2 phone calls to Avanquest they supplied
me with 2 serial keys. These were inserted and extended my expiry date
to 25 days. Avanquest tell me that ZA have to check their records in the
US and that I should get an increase to 365 days within about 10 days.
(8 days gone so far)

Is this how Zone Alarm normally work in the UK? If so it is not
surprising that their paid for products are lacking in market penetration.

Hugh

In a word, No - at least not how they used to work.

Although I now use the free version, I previously purchased the paid up
version via their website with no problems at all.

Hi
You could try raising it directly with Steve Gibson (Zone Alarms)?

When I had a paid for version I bought it direct off the ZoneAlarm
website (paid for by Visa in dollars). Had no trouble whatsoever.

If you have the option still, the AVG antivirus plus firewall is a much
better product IMO and much cheaper. Two licenses cost the same as a
single ZA license and I have found their tech support to be virtually
real time e-mail conversation and extremely good.

AVG is anti-virus but I understand that ZoneAlarm also deals with spyware
which AVG does not

AVG is only anti-virus and firewall. If you want spyware, IME one
programme is not enough but Spybot and AdAware combined seem to be the
most popular and both are free.

No, its not. Did you try just going to their website and registering
the product? Or contacting ZA direct?

FWIW I've always registered / renewed licenses directly on their
website.

You forgot a couple of other worthwhile apps - cwshredder and
spywareblaster. If they don`t do the trick, an up-to-date download of
Sysclean from Trend Micro and HijackThis will see off anything that`s
left.

I've been using the free versions of all the above for nearly a year, and so
far they've kept my machine clear of viruses and spyware etc. An ideal
combination IMO.
Mike.
