Theres the rub. If you get a good person at Clara, they are good.

Mostly, sadly, you dont.

My chief reason for abandoning them.

That and the draconian way they handled excess bandwidth usage.

1 or 8 (your choice) static addresses are included in the price with
Zen.

Nor for IPv6 blocks either.

I know. I said "AS an aside, you can have a block of
IPv6 addresses routed to you too at no extra charge." !!

But good to make it clear. All of the static addresses are provided at no
charge.

Cool. Would you mind doing a traceroute to a couple of specific
addresses, so I can see how IDnet connectivity compares with others,
and then either post the results here or email me privately (my
email address above works fine without any mangling)? Thanks.

The two addresses of interest are 84.234.17.119 and 87.238.75.113

Cheers

Looks like the latter one is routing via a third party.

The first goes direct.

I've removed the first hop, as its my gateway.

Contact them and tell them - they will probably offer to halve it. FWIW I
would avoid ZEN like the plague. Their support department is staffed by
some of the rudest, clueless f**kwits known to man kind and their
accounts department suffer from literacy issues. If you don't need to
contact them, their service is passable - but the measure is when
something goes wrong and really, they don't hold a pot to piss in
compared to IDNET. The little extra is really worth it.

Thanks to all for the responses. I've decided to go with AAISP.
For my level of usage, they will actually work out a little cheaper
than I currently pay for Claranet.

Just waiting for my MAC now (they insist the request is in writing,
e.g. email).

Cheers
