Hello there,
I have only GPRS connection to Internet and I have problem:
when trying to make (for first trial) yum makecache (i set up
a repository:
http://ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de/Mir...pment/i386/os/ )
I got "ftp timed out" after loading 100-200kB of primary.xml.gz file.
And whole process stops.

Question is: how to make yum immune to this timeout -> force to retry
instead of stopping.

W.P.

I get this problem often. It's not well programmed. The only answer I
can think of is to recode the source. I believe it's written in Python.

Using Google I have found the answer: there is a parameter timeout in
yum.conf. Simply have changed it to 180 and download was OK.
I have now other problem, it seems that yum "eats" all available memory
(i have 256MB). Will try with 384MB.
