Hi,

We have a small network with a Windows 2003 Server and a
few windows 98 clients. When I try to connect to a shared
resource on another windows 98 client from my PC (which is
also running win98) from the Network neighbourhood, I get
a promopt stating "YOU MUST SUPPLY A PASSWORD TO MAKE THIS
CONNECTION Resource \\COMPUTER_NAME\IPC$". Please help me
in finding a solution. Both the PCs belong to the same
domain.

Thanks,
Rina.

By default Windows 98 machines pass the currently logged in
username/password as credentials for file shares. So use the same
username/password or create unique usernames on Windows 2003 machine for
each Windows 98 machine.

An easier alternative is:
Enable the guest
account in the MMC.
Start / Settings / Control Panel / Administration Tools / Computer
Management
Click "users and groups" / "users"
double click "guest account" and uncheck the box that says disable.

BTW, a search of Google for "YOU MUST SUPPLY A PASSWORD TO MAKE THIS
CONNECTION" yielded heaps of near identical solutions.
