hi all;

I wld prefer my PC to power off when I shut down my WinME, rather then
showing me the msg "You can now safely turn off your computer"

Is this a design feature in WinME ? My guess is due to design of my
motherboard and ATX form factor. But I wish to listen to your advice to
confirm.

Tks & peace

Hello;
I am assuming, you want to turn your computer completely
off so that consumes no power when you Shutdown from your
Windows desktop. You can set your machine to do this: Go
to Start|Settings|Control Panel |Power Options. When you
are there you can set your machine up to do what you want.
I am not aware of any machine that "unplugs itself", so to
speak so... you still have to push the power OFF button on
the front panel of your computer.
I am not sure why you want to shut it completely OFF. When
in standby, for instance, most machines consume
essentially zero power. Good luck.

Hmmm. If I power down, then push the front panel switch, the computer starts
up again!

P.S. When I do power down, the last thing that happens is a nice healthy
"click", like a relay kicking out. AFAIK, there is no way to disconnect from
the mains without pulling the plug, but I don't need to press the power
switch in a power down sequence.

I am running an HP Pavilion, but the behavior of Gateway and Compaq
computers I have seen is identical.
