am a bit worried of subscribing to a bb isp for the year and i may want to
leave for various reasons(isp crap etc). don't fancy paying the 100 odd quid
to do that.

So choose an ISP with a one-month minimum contract period.

I've seen adds on the telly saying if you didn't like broadband, you get all
your money back:
http://www.freeserve.com/time/broadb...nternet_access
it days: "In the unlikely event that Broadband is not for you, just call us
to cancel within the first 30 days of service. We'll send you a jiffy bag to
return your modem pack. Once we have received it we'll refund your £27.99.
So trying Broadband wouldn't have cost you anything!" (it's in the 3rd
bullet point).
Hope this helps

That is an interesting offer - but if you do keep the service past 30
days you enter into a 12 month contract.

Hmm, a free way to go from HH to PSTN, and check your line works for ADSL...
