here is the scenario:

- windows *2003* domain (1 dc)
+ 12 xppro workstations
+ gpo xp enterprise client security templates
+ offline folder redirects (non-dfs of course. appdata, desk, my docs)
+ roaming profiles
+ no fancy business. plenty of bandwidth and processing power.

while online, all of the workstation users frequently get dumped into the
"working offline" mode. this, in turn, dumps all of our network apps too.
it's weird because there is still a workable 100meg connection to the
server. why does xppro think it's offline?

i have a temporary work around by setting the "non-default server disconnect
actions" through gpo to 1, but this turns off working offline! i need to
figure out how to get online/offline behaving as they should. any hints?

Hi Jarred,

is there any firewall or anything else that would filter out ICMP between
the client and server?

no, they're on the same subnet with no connection firewalls or ipsec
filters. is the xppro offline functionality based on icmp?

are there any tools to debug this? the xppro clients nor the server throw
any events.
