Hi
I'm trying to access my laptop from a PC upstairs. The laptop is hooked up
to a linksys wireless access point and the PC has a wireless linksys card
installed.
The PC (upstairs) on XP Pro is finding the access point as I'm getting a
very strong reading but when I open Network places the only folders that are
showing are the PC (upstairs)XP Pro shared folders.
The PC (upstairs) is a dual boot system which has Win 98 and XP Pro.I can
access the laptop shared folders when I'm on Win98 but not on XP Pro.No
shared folders are showing except the XP Pro ones when I'm on XP Pro.

Any pointers please

George

Hi
Got it sorted. I'd set the WEP encryption with a passphrase at 128 bits and
didn't realise I had to insert the hexdecimal key into the network key field
of the wireless network properties
I then had to select the key format "Hexdecimal digits" and the key length
"104 bits (26 digits)" which corresponds to 128 bit WEP encryption.
Once that was done the laptop network appeared right away with file sharing
and internet connection available.

Regards

George
