XP Laptop with Airport Extreme

I've successfully managed to connect my XP laptop to an airport extreme
network at a local college, but although the laptop is assigned an IP
address it doesn't get a default gateway address - it's just blank.
Unfortunately this means I can't connect to the internet as the proxy
server is on a different sub-net. I can ping all the macs on the same
network but can't ping the proxy server. The macs connect to the
internet through the proxy fine. I've tried forcing the laptop to a
fixed IP address and manually entering the default gateway to no avail.

Any ideas gratefully received.

TIA, Mark.

Use the Windows config software tool that's freely available Apple.
