two PCs connected via adsl router, one wireless.

PC: A
PC B (wireless)

Both PCs are on the same workgroup, both are xp home Sp1, and have firewall
switched off, woth file and printer sharing enabled.

Both PCs can ping each other, both can be seen from my network places. A can
access B's shared resources, but B cannot access A's.........

Any ideas????

Gaz

Permissions?

Have you allowed the user on B to have access to machine A?

I don't know why you posted this once. Windows XP Home uses Simple
File Sharing so permissions don't come into it.

Simple file sharing (xp home) is enabled. I also created two dummy accounts
with the same user name on each. No joy.

PC A did have Norton Internet Security on, this has been uninstalled, i
suspect that this may be causing the problem.

That's because I didn't read the OPs post properly! I'm so used to using XPPro at
work and at home I simply didn't engage the brain!

That aside, do you think that Norton Internet Security, having been
uninstalled causing what looks like a firewall problem?

It doesn't really look like a firewall problem to me.

You said, "B can't access A's [shared resources]." What happens when you
try?

Alex

Access denied. Both use home xp and both have simple file sharing enabled.
