Hi, I dont know if I'm in the right NG, but I have an XP home machine that
needs to print to a printer that is attached to an XP pro machine that is on
my domain, but it just says access denied the whole tim, and if I type
\\machinename I get the following error message
Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at
this computer.
It doesn't even ask me for a username and password
I have tried google, and have searched through the archives but can't find
anything helpfull.
I have added the username and password to the machine that the printer is
on, and on the DC but still nothing.
I have given everyone access to the printer and also specified the local
account that I created.
Does anyone know how to get round this?
Unfortunatly it is for a consultant so I can't just upgrade to Pro.

TIA

System error 1385 has occurred - Logon failure: the user has not been
granted the requested logon type at this computer

Symptoms: When using net use \\remotecomouter\ahredname, you may receive
above message.

Resolution: The users do not have permission to connect to the remote
computer. To resolve this problem: on the remote computer, select
Administrative Tools>Local Security Settings>Local Policies>User Rights
Assignment, right-click on Access this computer from the
network>Properties>Add Users or Groups, add everyone or any users you want
to be able to access the computer from the network.

If you don't want to create a user-account, i.e. allow really everyone to
print, you'll also have to enable the entry
Administrative Tools>Local Security Settings>Local Policies>security
options>network access: allow 'everybody'-access for anonymous users
this may not be the exact name because I translated it into English (using a
German Version of XP)

Regards,
Manuel

Thanks Robert, I'll give it a try.
Manuel, I tried that before and it didn't work. Thanks for the suggestion
though
I have managed a work around temporarily though
run : \\computer\share /user:username password
Set this to run at startup and it works.
