XP and win98 on network

I have two computers running windows XP (a desktop and a
laptop)--both of these are networked, sharing internet,
files, and printer. Everything seems to be fine here.
My other computer is running windows 98 2nd ed. and is
connected to the network. I have internet access on it.
I have the same workgroup name and have enabled file and
print sharing on it; however, when I check in network
neighborhood no computers show up. Only the entire
network icon. The system is "unable to browse the
network." Also, on my two other computers---I can see the
problem computer in network neighborhood and even get
files from it.
What do I need to do to get the 98 computer to be able
to receive files and print to the shared printer? I have
used the troubleshooter and I think everything is OK, but
there is one suggestion I have not done. Not sure what to
put or where to find it. The trouble shooter suggests
that under "Client for Microsoft Networks/Properties" that
I need to verify that the Log on to Windows NT domain
check box is selected and that the correct Windows NT
domain appears under Windows NT domain. This option is not
checked, but I have no idea what to put in domain field.
If this is the problem, where do I find the "NT DOMAIN" to
use? If this is not the problem---please help!?!?!

Thanks,

you only need to use the log onot domain feature if you are doing just that.
you would have a domain server at your location and would definalty know
about it.

Now it is verry likly you don't have a domain controler so i would sugest
you check the windows xp conection properties and under the advanced section
of the ip properties there is a selection to use netbios over tcp/ip. select
that and try it. also you should disable the firewall on the xp machine as
it could be blocking ports 137,138,and 139. make sure print and file sharing
is enabled on the windows 98 box and verify the ip adresses are in the same
class. I.E, 192.168.1.x or somethign like that. the key to note here is that
the last set of numbers are the only ones different then the rest. if they
are then you won't have mich success sharing files without thierd party
materials.

Read someplace that XP won't let PCs having more than a one word name access
them even if sharing.
My problem was reversed, XP could not access the other PCs on same workgroup
name which I finally conquered. Never used the diskette XP created for
networking with other PCs.
