XP and Orinoco silver not connecting - continuous network search!

I just installed myself an Orinoco silver WLAN card to get myself
connected to wireless internet. The install went fine, the card and
the Client Manager are both installed without problems. The Client
Manager diagnostics tell me that everything is OK. My OS is Windows XP
pro.
And here's the problem: it's trying to estabilish a connection, but
even when the system finds the access point, it keeps on searching for
another! Over and over... the client manager shows that it finds it,
showing a good signal and connection, but it shows it only for 1-2
seconds and then goes back to search for more connections. It just
keeps doing this in a loop...

I've installed the latest drivers, the latest client manager and the
firmware is as new as it gets.

How do I make it stop searching and accept the connection it found?

tell windows xp not to handle the managment of the card, there is a check
box somplace in your network properties. what is happening is the orinoco
software finds the access point, then windows finds it and it keeps
switching back and forth and neither can login

good luck
