Hi,

I have a box with Windows 98 Upgraded to XP Professional(SP1)as OS,
Nortons Internet Security 2003 and Telewest BlueYonder Broadband.

The broadband is wireless and is via the USB port and Netgear MA111
Device.

It all installed and has been working (internet access via Internet
Explorer and e-mail via Outlook express) for the last two weeks but
for today strange things have been happening!

The first thing is that Internet Explorer keeps losing the Default
page and tries to come up with "iwannasearch.net" but seems to get
stuck in a loop as the page-load progress gets so far then restarts
before anywhere near completing.

The IP address and subnet mask (which is set to automatically detect)
changed to the windows type, the default gateway nullified and the
Passphrase in the Netgear configuration keeps being erased.

I have spent all day trying many different things as suggested by the
support team such as turning the box off/on, disabling the service
"wireless zero config" rebooting, stopping and starting DHCP and DNC
services, removing cookies and standing on a chair singing she'll be
coming around the mountain etc but to no avail.
I even, rather foolhardily tried setting the IP/subnet/gateway
manually within the network connection properties, but no change.

Please does anyone have any idea as to what may be causing this
erroneous behaviour?

If so please help as this is driving me up the wall!

Many thanks in advance.

Pete

ADware/Spyware or even a virus or 2 could do all what you are reporting.
You have got an _up_to_date_ virus checker & have you got a anti adware
program (Adaware by Lavasoft is pretty good).
