Xircom PCMCIA card and promiscuous mode

I tried putting my Xircom RealPort 10/100 PCMCIA card into promiscuous
mode to do some network sniffing but it isn't working. 'ifconfig' says
PROMISC, but it's not showing the packets I want to see. I'm running
RH9 with kernel 2.4.20-20.9 using driver xirc2ps_cs.

Is there another/newer driver that will put this card into promiscuous
mode or do I need a different card?

If I need a different card, can anyone suggest one - preferably one
without a dongle attachment.

Thanks.

I need to post a follow-up here:

It turns out the "hub" I was using to test the promiscuity of this
card wasn't a hub at all, rather a switch (contrary to the product
labels).

2 lessons learned here:

1.) Xircom RealPort PCMCIA card does promiscuous mode just fine.

2.) Never trust the labelling on a Linksys "hub".
