Hi,
Unfortunately for me, I seem to have a network set up unlike the majority of
others. It is a wireless ad-hoc, so therefore, no router, main access point,
as every computer (4 to be exact) connects to each other individually.
However, after recently purchasing an XBox, and trying to get it onto the
network, I have come into some difficulty. I receive the internet from
another computer through a USB wireless adapter. This network runs fine, and
I receive the internet perfectly. I then wanted to connect the XBox to my
computer via an Ethernet connection, and then re-share the internet
connection over this, therefore giving the XBox access to the internet.
However, on trying to enable ICS (I am running windows XP), I get an error
message telling me that my computer must have the IP of 192.168.0.1.
However, I cannot do this as the wireless network that I am on already uses
this address, on the computer that shares the internet. And, with there
being no router, this computer is also the gateway, and therefore, I cannot
change the IP on the server.
Are there any ways that I can work around this problem, without having to go
out and spend as much, if not more than what I just spent on my XBox, simply
to get it connected to Live.
Thanks in advance for any information.
Aruz
