Xbox live trouble

I have a few questions:

1) Is it possible to establish a network for Xbox live,
if the xbox is connected to a router with an ethernet
cable. Then, in another room, a PC has the Ethernet card.
Again, can it work?

2) If so, how do I setup the network?
