Xbox 360 does not detect wireless adapter

I recently bought the Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter and when I hook it
up the light comes on and is steady red so it is working fine but my Xbox 360
will not detect that I have it hooked in. I have tried many times to run the
Test Network Settings on the system but it always says Disconnected
