I know X tunneling can be done with 'ssh -X hostipaddress' etc., but is
there also a way to somehow do some variant of X tunneling so that if I run
an X gui application on a remote computer, that application also runs on
the remote computer so that remote use could watch the screen and see what
is being controlled at my end remotely? That would be really useful for
helping newbies-- I could run an X application on a friend's remote
computer, and (s)he could see what i was doing.

I agree, VNC is a very good app and can <i haven't tried it though> be
used across platforms linux -> windows -> linux if required.
Although it may be slow over a modem or even < 1M connection i would
think, same goes for ssh -X though.

There was a utility, working along the same lines as `xmove', which could do
such tricks as display an Xclient on several Xservers (I think it was
originally developed for classroom use).

I can't remember the name, tho.
