X Terminal problem

Hello,

I am trying to setup a network of X terminals. I am not using XDM
because the network may be untrusted, so I prefer to connect to the
server through SSH with X forwarding. I made a frontend to ssh in order
to have a graphical login.
Everything works well, excepted when launching a gnome session on the
remote host. The background is X default (X is installed on the terminal
with only the minimal window manager) and startup fails because of some
gnome applications being unable to run, such as the keyboad indicator.
However, if I launch a session trough ssh locally on the server,
everything works. So I guess there is some interaction between the app
server and the X server, the former searching some files or settings on
the latter. Do you know how I could fix it, or any documents I could
refer to in order to make things work ?

Thanks.
