That "warning" from XP is just that - MS didn't certify the driver, so you're
on your own. That said, you would just be one more X-Micro user that ran
right through that bang and installed and operated the adapter successfully,
and believe me my systems are *loaded* with multiple drivers that MS never
certified and they work just fine.
My recipe: always (ALWAYS!) have a known-good boot partition image saved away
where you can get to it to restore it, a known-good partition restoration
process , and then go for it!
fwiw, I use the (pre-Symantec) PowerQuest Drive Image, works great, never lets
me down...
