Occasionally when I boot my laptop the Explorer Shell takes a while to
startup and is sluggish to respond. I have researched the issue and have
found the following error in the event log with this problem occurs:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event ID: 7011
Description:
Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for a transaction response from the
WZCSVC service.

My laptop has an Intel 2200BG wireless network card with driver version
9.0.3.9. I do not have the Intel Proset software installed since I prefer to
use standard Windows Wireless Zero Configuration instead. Anyone else see
this issue and have a solution? In my wireless network adapter network
protocols I saw that a network protocol "AT&T Wi-Fi Support Driver" was
installed and I didn't know what it was for so I removed it. I don't see the
problem as often with this driver removed.

Any clue what this problem is caused by?

Have you got wzc set to run automatically as a service?
You may find a clue here

The link is no help. Wireless Zero Configuration service is set to startup
automatically and does most of the time. I only see the event log entry 7011
occasionally at startup. The shell hangs waiting for the WZSVC service to
startup.

No clue why this occurs.
