anybody know where i can get a good quality DIY telephone extension kit from
(either online/shop)?
i need to know that will carry the full signal so i can use my ADSL modem in
a different room...
some of the ones i saw looked very flimsy, and probably will mean my adsl
signal is degraded....
tia for any advice
cheers

If you are not talking hundreds of yards then telephone cable should be
fine. Consider how far the signal is coming from the exchange already.

You could of course wire it using CAT-5 Cable, available all sorts of
places . You'll need a wall socket and a krohn tool, and the clips are
bigger, 6mm or thereabouts.

B&Q, or any DIY shop.

It doesn't have to be special. Any old telephone wire will do.

Think about it. The signals, both baseband and ADSL, have travelled up to 3.5km
from your exchange, so another few yards is not going to make any difference.

Rod.

Only these 3 are needed in a normal line situation....
Same combination at the working socket end of course...

Avoid any extention kits that use braided cable. use 'normal' solid
copper telephone wire with twisted pairs.

Cheap ones are probably as good as expensive ones in this respect. Do make
sure you keep the cable the recommended distance (at least 10cm from memory)
away from mains cables and other sources of interference such as cordless
phones though.
