For anyone out there who cares to know, the WSB24 works extremely well
with the WRT54G -- both for range extension and signal amplification.
I have this hookup and am getting at least an extra 100 ft in all
directions of range. Inside my house the signal level increase from
20-30% to 60-70% with the WSB24.

Even though these are now "banned in the USA", these things kickass so
pick one up if you can and if you don't mind potentially frying your
brains.

It's just an amplifier, just like your stereo doesn't care what type of
music you like, it just makes it LOUDER!

What do you mean by "banned in the USA"? I can still buy one today. The
linksys pages says its FCC approved for use with only 2 of their WAP's - maybe
that's what you mean?

In the immortal words of Gomer...
Well goh awwwww leee!
I thought you were tryin to fry some 54g units - 'cause I bought one
and tried it - AND IT DIDN'T WORK! But then I read your post and
thought I'd try again and sure enough - this time it worked perfectly.
Why - well there may have been some impurities or junk on the
connector. At 2.4 Ghz the connectors have to be imperfection free!
This time I was very careful to clean the connectors (even though they
were brand new) with some alcohol. When I powered it up the laptop in
my kitchen went from GOOD to EXCELLENT! This was a nice little
boost!
Unfortunately I wanted to get the signal to my back deck - and due to
the design of the house that deck is virtually in a faraday cage made
of aluminum siding - so still no luck there! I may try putting some
reflectors in place to see what that will do!
Anyway - thanks for posting this!
