WS2003 and DHCP intercept

Hi,

I've set up a W2k3 Server as a Workgroup Server temporarily to allow
for some transitioning from a NetWare environment. It is set for fixed
IP, and a preexisting firewall currently provides DHCP services for
the network.

That is, as long as the W2k3 server is unplugged. Otherwise, a DHCP
client gets the "error occured while renewing..." DHCP failure
message.

DHCP Server was intentionally NOT set up on this machine since it
will be playing yo-yo until some conversions are completed, but for
some reason it seems that W2k3 is intercepting DHCP requests from
clients on the network and denying them.

Ideas? Fixes?

tks wpl

Is Internet Connection Sharing enabled on the Windows Server 2003 box? ICS
starts a mini DHCP service that would interfere with your regular DHCP
server.

No, but the issue happened again - performed the 'workaround' - and on
subsequent attempts to use DHCP they were successful. So I'll have to
wait to see if it recurs. ALl that was done was to logout/in as
another user, another administrator.
