WRT54GL hardware revisions

I'm interested in this router/AP as it can be used with various third party
firmware. AIUI both 1.0 and 1.1 hardware revisions can be used with the
likes of Tomato and DD-WRT. So for buying new, it seems the best bet. Can
anyone confirm if this is the case and if there are newer versions >1.1 and
if they are to be avoided.
Also I'd be interested in recommendations for any other alternative
_current_ AP/router models that will run these firmwares.

Sorry. I've never seen a WRT54GL. There are some notes on the
differences between 1.0 and 1.1 hardware at:

I suggest looking into the Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 router with DD-WRT v23
SP2. Works nicely for me.

Thanks Jeff. With the amplifier The Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 looks like a nice
wifi router.
