I upgraded from a befw11s4 and my signal strength actually is worse..
Is there a signal booster for this?

http://seattlewireless.net/LinksysWRT54G.html (I think that's the URL.)
Anyway, it's trivial to turn it up to 84mw, from 30mw in software.

Sure... G & B use the same frequencies...

Read the URL.
It can be turned up several times in software.

I use the 802.11b booster with the linksys WRT54G AP and it works good.
Doesn't bring up the range all that far, but it does make the signal
stronger in areas where there allready was a signal. If you want to extend
the range, get an antenna insted.

But here's my question tho, has anyone upped the TX power (though the web
page, using ping hack), with the signal booster? When I try to up the power
in at the AP, with the signal booster attached, my link speed goes WAY down.
Putting it anything above 20 and the link gets stonger, but the speeds goes
down to around 11mbit or 18mbit, when it should be like 36-48mbit.

After reading the specs on the signal booster, I see something about it only
having a max input tx power of 20dbi or something. I'm not very good with
signals and all that good stuff, but putting 2 and 2 together... can you not
up the signal power when using the booster? Thought it'd be nice to push it
even more. Anyone else have any experince with this?

Are you using the booster device AND the hack at the same time? If so, try
only one or ther other.

Overdriving the input does not make the output of the booster produce
a good.
The reason is the same as when you overdrive an audio amplifier.
Though it may be a little louder, it gets horribly distorted, and you
can often barely make out the intended signal.
