Here is the scenerio:

I've just installed and configured the router to my ADSL provider and
works great, I can connect very quickly and browse pages with a direct
connection from the PC to the router, using one of the ports the
Router provides.

Everything is going great, until I slide the US Robotics PC Card on
the laptop. The PC Card finds the wireless network, but the router
stops responding, until I turn off and on the router (but with the PC
Card not installed).

I have done the following test:

1. Installed the wireless WRT54G router (turn on)
2. Connect one port from the hub to my PC (using an ethernet cable)
3. Open the browser http://192.168.1.1 and check the status and
connect if needed. (works)
4. Open a command window and type "Ping 192.168.1.1 -t" and constantly
get the response from the router (works)
5. Slide the US Robotics PC Card on the laptop (windows xp detects my
card correctly)
6. Found the wireless network, when I click connect the pings stop
responding and wont connect to the network (http://192.168.1.1 host
not found)

As a side note, I tried the US Robotics PC Cards on another wireless
network and I can get a connection easily, even gets good range.

The question is, do I have to change some special setting on the
router to get a connection, or the router is broken and I should get a
warranty replace ?

Please help me out, I can't figure this out.

Thanks

Chris

welcome to wrt54g lockup land...

sorry you're having the same trouble the rest of us are. mine only occurs
when using wpa however.

wep 64 or wep128 works fine with my centrino based dell and the wrt54g. have
you tried that? i also understand that assigning static addresses rather
than dhcp ones helps in some cases but i haven't tried that.

a little birdie has informed me that linksys/intel are working on the
centrino/wrt54g problem and it should be possible to fix with a linksys
firmware update in the "near" future.

i don't know if that fix would help your usr card however.

good luck

And perhaps the Linksys/Dell Truemobile problem.

And the Linksys/Dlink problem.

And the Linksys/Belkin problem.

Oh, and how about that problem with the WZC WPA update that causes
disconnections (you know, the one they recommend that you UNINSTALL to solve
disconnect problems using WEP)?

Just my naive wish list...

What do you recommend me to do?
Return the linksys package to the store and get my money back?

Which router do you recommend me to buy?
