WRT54G LAN problem

I have a wrt54g router. I hage a win/xp laptop on the wireless segment. I
have one win\xp desktop on the cable segemnt. Both workstations can ping
the gateway and both can access the internet. However they can not ping
each other.
Does anyone know why these workstations can't see each other?

Have you disabled the firewalls on the workstations?

What firmware are you using and what version is your router (1, 1.1, or 2)?

It appears that after the 1.41.2 firmware, the new firmware versions no
longer allow IPX/SPX between the wired and wireless LAN segments. Thus, the
names of computers no longer show up in the network workgroup. However, one
can still connect to them using TCP/IP and entering their LAN IP addresses
(run "ipconfig" to get them and then use \\192.168.1.x in the address bar to
connect). If you have enabled the internet connection firewall, ping will
not work.
