I have a WRP614v2 Router plugged in from my RoadRunner Cable Modem.
Originally, I thought the problem may have been with my laptop's wireless
card (a Dell Mini-PCI card), but I got another card for a second laptop (PC
Card this time, and a totally different band) and the same problem happens.
After a period of time (roughly one hour) the connection drops. It happens
on both laptops, so I think the problem is on the Router end. The only way
I know to fix this, is to unplug the router for about 15 seconds, and plug
it back in.
It happens whether WPA, WEP, or No Security is on.
It happens with the original firmware, and each of the subsequent ones. (At
the moment, I have the latest one, Version 2.05 - Oct 9 2003 loaded.)
I've tried changing channels (11, 1, 5, 7, 9, 3, etc.), which did NOT solve
the problem. Currently, it's set on channel 5.
The signal is not the problem, because even when the laptop's do not move,
and the signal is excellent, it still happens.
I've tried holding the reset button for differen amounts of time (5 seconds,
10 seconds, a full minute) - all return the factory settings (but the
firmware version remains), and I re-configure it, and it happens again.
Once again, the only way I know to fix this, is to unplug the router for
about 15 seconds, and plug it back in.
Can anyone help me determine what to do to keep my router on and connected?!
Thanks!
